The Iowa State Cyclones finished Saturdays Midwest Regional in 5th place behind Oklahoma State, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. The team was lead by a strong performance by Kiel Uhl, finshing 4th place. Kevin Born (21st), David Rotich (23rd), Guor Majak (37th), and Dan Fadgen (47th) rounded out the top 5 for the team scoring a total of 132 points. One of the goals of the season was for the Cyclones to take a step forward and run at nationals for the first time since 1997. Unfortunately the team fell short and for many of the men it will be the last race of the season and for some, the last of a fine career as a Cyclone. Hoping to obtain an at-large bid, the Cyclones went into the competition knowing that they would have to finish higher than they to be running at the National Championships next week. Unfortunately, the team fell short and will not represent Iowa State University. Fortunatley though, one of the Cyclones will get a chance to represent the University as an individual next week. Kiel Uhl, who finished fourth and in turn qualified as an individual for nationals, will get that chance to wear the cardinal and gold on the nationals course. This is his second time qualifying for nationals and he should be able to better his performance from last year with one more year of experience in the NCAA. The national championships will be held on Monday, November 20th in Terre Haute, Indiana.
